Alton Crockett Chapman, 93, of McGregor, Texas passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2023. A graveside service will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 23, 2023 in McGregor Cemetery with Pastor Joey Crenshaw officiating.

Mr. Chapman was born on June 1, 1929 in McGregor, Texas to Henry Clay and Annie Carrie (Ehrhardt) Chapman. Alton never married. Mr. Chapman was a farmer and raised chickens. He sold and delivered eggs in McGregor, Woodway and the Waco area. Alton was a member of the McGregor/Crawford Masonic Lodge for over 71 years. He was a longtime member of the First Methodist Church where he served as head usher.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, sister Lois Ruff and many aunts and cousins.

Survivors include his nephew Ronnie Ruff and his wife, Rhonda.

The family would like to thank Coral Rehab for many years of taking care of Alton, they were his second family. They would also like to thank the nurses at Compassus for their care the last several months of his life.
