Ambrose Wayne Blackwell, 83, passed away on February 4, 2020 in Temple, Texas. A graveside service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 8, 2020 in Post Oak Cemetery, Oglesby, Texas.

Wayne was born on October 15, 1936 in Octavia, Oklahoma to Ambrose Washington Blackwell and Thelma Jewel (Caldwell) Blackwell. He graduated from Smithville High School where he played basketball and took woodworking Classes. Wayne was employed in a supervisory position for pole line construction crews, most of his life. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and had a love of nature and the great outdoors. He will be remembered for his quick wit, great sense of humor, craftsmanship and woodworking skills, generosity, and that he was always willing to help others.

Preceding Wayne in death were his parents; brother, Audry Don Blackwell; brother in law, Ronald Gaydos; and niece Ronetta Sue Gaydos.

Survivors include son, Vance Wayne Blackwell and wife, Terrie Lee, of Hamilton; grandson, Sheldon Wayne Blackwell and wife, Mandy Rene, of Hamilton; granddaughter, Trina Dell Hawkins and husband, Shane Haralson, of Mount Calm, Texas; great grandsons, Garrison Wayne Blackwell, Hayden Lane Blackwell, Zane Hank Hawkins; great granddaughters, Halle Marie Hawkins, Heidi Ann Hawkins; and sister, Inola Gaydos, of Arlington, Texas.
