Obituary

Clifford Durrence, 80, of McGregor, passed away Thursday, November 14, 2019 at Scott and White Hospital in Temple, Texas. A visitation will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, November 21, 2019 at Cole Funeral Home, McGregor, Texas, followed by the funeral service at 2:30 p.m., with Brother Greg Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Crawford City Cemetery, Crawford, Texas.

Clifford was born February 25, 1939 in Claxton, Georgia to Leroy Durrence and Idell (Todd) Durrence. When he was old enough, he enlisted in the United States Army on June 15, 1960. He served 5 years and received an honorable discharge on April 30, 1965. Clifford loved life and enjoyed collecting coins and old tools. He never missed the opportunity to hang out with his brother, Elvie. They enjoyed the simple things in life, like working and piddling with old automobiles. Sometimes, he would stay up all hours of the night just working on his car or old truck. Clifford worked for several years at the concrete plant and started working at the City of McGregor on September 24, 1987, until he retired on April 30, 2001. Clifford never met a stranger and always wore a smile. He will be greatly missed.

Preceding Clifford, in death, were his parents Virgil Leroy and Idell Durrence; wife, Martha Jones Durrence; son, Roy Durrence; and brother, Elvie Durrence.

Survivors include one daughter, Leesa Lofpin; two grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews; and three special friends, Glorie Harris, Johnny Davis, and Donald Davis.
