Earl W. Murphee, 74, of McGregor, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2016 in a local nursing home. A memorial service will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Cole Funeral Home in McGregor with Reverend Paul Allison officiating. Military Honors will be provided by Fort Hood Honor Guard.Mr. Murphee was born on October 24, 1941 in Bruce, Mississippi to Pird and Louise Mason Murphree. He retired from the United States Army; he served in the Vietnam War and the recipient of a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star Medal. Mr. Murphee was an avid golfer and loved to bass fish but his true love was his family. He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter; Megan Murphee. Survivors include his wife; Henrietta Murphee of McGregor, son; Michael Murphee and his wife, Barbara of King George, Virginia, daughter; Pamela Toney and her husband, Rusty of McGregor, grandchildren; Kaitlin and Emily Murphee of Austin, Rachel Chapman and her husband, Rick of Crawford, Renae Toney and her fiancé, Erik Mercado of Arlington and Kenny "Buck" Berry and his wife, Kim of Montross, Virginia, 2 great granddaughters, sister; Elaine Hollis and her husband, Larry of Milton, Florida, 4 nephews and 3 nieces. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Westview Manor and Kindred At Home Hospice for their love and care they gave to Mr. Murphee.
