Ima Bekkelund, 92, of Woodway, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2014 in Waco. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at Cannan Baptist Church in Crawford with the Reverend Steven Darst, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Cannan Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 PM, on Tuesday, July 29th at Cole Funeral Home in McGregor.Mrs. Bekkelund was born on November 29, 1921 in Valley Mills, Texas to Alfred and Anna (Sandhoff) Hoppe. She married Gordon Bekkelund on November 26, 1948 at the Cannan Baptist Church parsonage and they celebrated over 53 wonderful years together until his death on March 24, 2002. Mrs. Bekkelund loved to cook, gardening and traveling. She was Nanny to her grandkids and nieces and nephews. Mrs. Bekkelund worked for Owens Illinois Glass plant and was a member of Cannan Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.Survivors include her daughters; Gwyn Sharp of Eddy and Debbi Brown and her husband, Bob of Axtell, brothers; Ray Hoppe and his wife, Nancy of Valley Mills and Vernon Hoppe and his wife, Nelda of Woodway, sisters; Edna Gauer of Waco and Ann Blum and her husband, Erwin of Crawford, grandchildren; Kelly Moss and her husband, David, Randi Dutschmann and her husband, Greg, Zac Sharp and Jeff Brown and his wife, Robin, great grandchildren; Avery Moss, Shelbi and Rylie Dutschmann and Bridget Brown.The family would like to give a special thank you to Saint Catherine's for the love and care they gave our mother.Arrangements under the direction of Cole Funeral Home, McGregor, TX.
