John Ella Brown, 98, passed away Thursday, December 12, 2019 in Waco, Texas. Funeral service will 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 21, 2019 at Roberson Chapel, in McGregor, with Reverend George Morgan officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 20, 2019 at Cole Funeral Home, McGregor, Texas.

John Ella was born September 19, 1921 to Holland and Naomi (Gray) Hicks in Wharton, Texas. She graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Houston, Texas. John Ella married the love of her life, John Malvon Brown in 1946, who preceded her in death in January of 1987. She was a longtime resident of McGregor and a homemaker. John Ella was a member of Roberson Chapel and enjoyed sewing, baking, singing in the church choir, and especially spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, and two brothers.

Survivors include daughters, Charles Etta Miller, of McGregor, Maxine Hall, of Dallas, Mary Wilkerson, of Jacksonville, Florida, Billie Bias, of McGregor, Bennie Henderson and husband, Andrew, of McGregor, Shela Brown, of McGregor; sons, Elvin Hicks, of McGregor, Malvon Brown, of Waco, George Brown and wife, Renee, of Waco, Anthony Brown and wife, Charlotte, of Forney; brothers Thurman Hicks, of Waco, and James Hicks of Houston; and numerous grandchildren; great grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
