Lillie Mae Pitts, 90, of McGregor, passed away on Thursday, July 15, 2016. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 19, Cole Funeral Home, McGregor, interment following at Eagle Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 18, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Cole Funeral Home.Mrs. Pitts was born in McGregor to Gus Edward Newman and Ethel Lawrence Newman, on October 24, 1925. She attended school in Eagle Springs and Oglesby. Lillie married Travis Goodwin in 1942, and they were married for five years before his death in 1947. She married Joe Pitts in 1950.Lillie was a long time member of Eagle Springs Baptist church, and she loved reading her bible and going to church. She also loved sewing, and worked in the clothes manufacturing business for four years.Mrs. Pitts was preceded in death by her parents; son, Joe Pitts; daughter, Jo Ann Burgess; and brothers, Charles Edward Newman, Leo Newman, and Samuel Newman.Lillie is survived by her daughter, Mayetta Martin, of Moody; sons, Travis Goodwin, of Moody, John Pitts, of Oglesby, and Jerry Pitts, of Temple; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
