Mario Aviles, Sr., 77, of McGregor, Texas passed away Sunday, April 26, 2020. A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 30, 2020 at Bethlehem Christian Church in McGregor, Texas, officiated by Jerry Sanchez. A visitation will precede the memorial service, at the church, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Mario was born in Seguine, Texas on August 21, 1942, to Pedro Aviles, Sr. and Nora Gover Aviles. He grew up in McGregor, Texas and attended high school in Moody, Texas. Mario married Josephine Leija on June 5, 1964 in Temple, Texas. He helped build Bethlehem Christian Church, in McGregor, and was a deacon, treasurer and secretary at the church, where he loved to cook. Mario enjoyed fishing, hunting, and western movies. He loved writing music and he funded the church band music recordings at Bethlehem Christian Church. Mario was devoted to his family, especially his grandchildren.

Mario was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Aviles.

Survivors include daughter, Josephine Huerta and husband, Alejandro; sons, Mario Aviles, Jr. and wife, Janice, Alejandro Aviles and wife, Marisela; grandsons, Mario Aviles III, Matthew Aviles; granddaughters, Erica Martinez and husband, James, Aolani Aviles, Hope Aviles, Marie Aviles, Sanaya Hall; great grandsons, Alejandro Martinez, Eric Martinez; and great granddaughter, Saedah Martinez.
