Opal Carpenter of Crawford died Thursday evening, August 9, 2012, at the age o f 90. Graveside services and interment will be 12:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at Caddo Cemetery in Joshua, Texas under the direction of Cole Funeral Home, 1113 West Fifth Street, McGregor with Rev. Gene Wolfenbarger officiating. A visitation will be held from 10 until 5 P.M. Tuesday at Cole Funeral Home.Mrs. Carpenter was born June 24, 1922, in Elkhart, Kansas, the daughter of the late Thomas Ruby and Lily Ella (Howell) Sidener and attended school in Lampasas. Earlier in her life, she married Frankie Leroy "Jack" Carpenter who has preceded her in death. In 1991, she moved to Crawford from Joshua, Texas. For seventy years she was in the amusement business and retired in 2007. Also preceding her in death was a daughter, Jackie Deathridge; a son, Tommy Carpenter. Survivors include a son, Frankie Lee Carpenter; a daughter, Pattie Sue LaBorde; a sister, Betty Burleson; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; nieces, Daisy Edwards and husband Larry, Ruby Lee and husband Jay and a host of other nieces and nephews to cherish her memory.
