Ruth Brandes peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday evening, June 26, 2014. She was 83.A visitation of family and friends will be held at Cole Funeral Home Saturday, June 28th from 1pm to 3pm. Funeral Services will be Sunday, June 29th at 2pm at Cole Funeral Home. Ruth will be laid to rest at McGregor Cemetery. Ruth was born November 8, 1930 in Moody, Texas to R.T. and Rowena Harris. She attended Moody schools graduating in 1947. On October 14, 1950 she married Max Brandes in Brownwood, Texas. They raised three children – Linda, Tim and Robin. They made their home in McGregor and have been members of First Baptist Church for 64 years. She operated Ruth's Beauty Shop for 28 years. Some of Ruth's favorite things were gardening, flowers, quilting, red birds, and most of all caring for her children and grandchildren.Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and daughter Linda. Also preceding her were brothers Ray Harris and Ernest Harris, and sister Frances Willis.She is survived by her loving husband Max Brandes of McGregor, her son Tim Brandes and his wife Roseann of Moody, her daughter Robin Hinson and her husband Bill of Crawford. She was the best MaMaw to her treasured grandkids – Jeramy Brandes and wife Theresa of Dallas, Katy and Kacy Brandes of Waco, Jerad Hinson of Dallas and Jacob Hinson of Waco. She is also survived by her brother John Harris and wife Marie of Buda. Pallbearers will be Jeramy Brandes, Jerad Hinson, Jacob Hinson, Larry Crooks, Dennis Fisher, Johnny Scott Harris and Steve Harris.
