Obituary

Willie Mae (Fletcher) KaldenbachWillie Mae Kaldenbach died on December 19 at the age of 89 years in Temple, Texas. The eldest of 9 siblings she was born in Canton, Texas to William and Jennie Fletcher on October 18, 1925. Willie endured many health challenges during her lifetime, but remained fairly active to her last days. Her last year was spent among her dear friends at Sterling House in Temple, Texas. When she was still able, Willie loved to attend the numerous monthly dances and music jamborees held all around the countryside near her home in Moody, Texas. She enjoyed the line dances, waltz, and the Texas Two-Step best of all. The yearly family picnics at Mother Neff State Park and at family farms were her favorite times to visit with her many family members. When Willie was a young lady during World War II, she and a high school girlfriend moved to Alexandria Virginia to work for the War Dept clerical offices. She met her future husband Frank Kaldenbach, a young sailor who lived there. They were married in Virginia and raised their family of four children in Alexandria, VA, Waco, TX and Moody, TX. While the children were young, family road trips every other summer to Virginia and Washington D.C. were greatly anticipated. These were marked by visits to historical monuments and numerous 4th of July celebrations.Willie is survived by her children, Frances Klein of Malden, Mass., Margaret Keeler (Fred Keeler) of Beaverton, OR, Tom Kaldenbach(Ginger Kaldenbach) of Denver, CO, and Bruce Kaldenbach(Janet Baker) of Roundrock, TX. Also, her siblings Gene Fletcher (Beatrice), Moody, TX, Alford Fletcher (Delicia), Arlington, Texas, and Barbara Tanner, Gatesville, TX…..She is also survived by four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.Willie was most fond of her home state of Texas, especially the beautiful fields of bluebonnets and Indian paintbrush that returned every spring. She will be missed by many friends and family.Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Monday, December 22, 2014 at Cole Funeral Home Chapel in Moody.
